Consultation Period for Admission Policy 2026/27  

The governing body are consulting on the admission arrangements for St Philip's Catholic Primary and Nursery School for admission in September 2026 in line with the requirements of the Schools Admission Code 2021.
There are no amendments to the policy. The consultation is taking place to satisfy the requirement to consult every 7 years.  The consultation period begins on Friday 25th October until Friday 29th November 2024.   Please see below a link to the proposed policy.

A message from Leeds City Council to any prospective parents for September 2024

Parents and carers have until the 15th January 2025 to complete their applications for a Reception place for September 2025 and should apply using the online system as well as supplying a Supplementary Information Form (SIF) to Catholic Schools. Parents will be informed of their school offer via email on national offer day, 16th April 2025.

If your child will be joining the Reception class at St. Philip's, you will also be required to fill out a Supplementary Information Form (SIF) alongside the school application form above.  Follow the links below to download the SIF form for the relevant academic year.

In Year AdmissionsIf your child is of primary school age and you wish to apply for a place at St Philip's Catholic Primary School, please visit the Leeds City Council Admissions site School admissions (leeds.gov.uk) and complete the In Year Common Preference Form and return it to the school office.  The school will hold the details on file and when a place becomes available at the school it will be allocated in line with the school admissions policies.

Please note, you must also complete a Supplementary Information Form (SIF) which can be downloaded above, or a paper copy may be collected from the school office. This must then be returned directly to school via the school office. Above there is a boundary map applicable to St Philip's Catholic Primary School Admissions. To support the application please provide a copy of your child's birth certificate and baptism certificate (if applicable). We are very happy to photocopy the original certificates for you if you wish us to do so.

 

Appeals You have the right to appeal to an Independent Appeal Panel for any school place you have been offered. If you would like to appeal for a place at our school you must complete the appropriate Leeds City Council appeal form. The forms can be found on Leeds City Council’s appeals webpage: www.leeds.gov.uk/schoolappeals. Completed appeal forms can either be e-mailed to education.appeals@leeds.gov.uk or posted to Leeds City Council, PO Box 837, Admissions, Leeds, LS1 9PZ. If you would like a paper copy of the form please contact Leeds City Council’s Admissions Team on 0113 222 4414.

In Year Appeals
The deadline for lodging an appeal against a decision for any other year group is 20 school days from the date of notification that the application for a school place was unsuccessful. Appeals will be heard within 30 school days of the appeal being received by the Clerk. Following the hearing, decision letters will be sent within five school days of the hearing. School days are term time only and do not include school holidays. If an appeal is submitted in the holidays the school days deadline will not start until the beginning of the next term e.g. an appeal received in July after schools have closed will not be heard until the new academic term,  ‘school days’ will start from the beginning of September when the term starts. Appeals Timetable
The current deadline for appeals has passed for this academic year.  Details on the appeals for the upcoming academic year will be published upon release.
All children can access 570 hours (15 hours x 38 weeks term time only) funded early education from the term following their third birthday.  This entitlement can be extended to 1140 hours (30 hours x 38 weeks term time only) funded early education for eligible families.  For more information on the criteria for eligibility please click here.
 
Nursery Funding
All children are entitled to 15 hours of funded nursery education from the term after they turn 3 years of age.
Some children are entitled to 30 hours of funded nursery education, if you wish to apply for this further entitlement please use this link to apply.  https://www.childcarechoices.go.uk/   If successful you be given a code to support your application which needs to be passed to the school of your choice.
